A fun stylized Megaraptoran ("Brontonychus"? Australovenator?) I decided to do within a short amount of time, in the style of a concept art diagram. I will, for sake of simplicity, call this Brontonychus mundunotus (=Southern World's Thunder Claw) even though, this isn't a speculative evolution creature. Not everything here is accurate, with a lot of exaggerated or manipulated proportions, such as larger arms and claws, more robust back and body, larger head and neck, and the implication of liplessness and light osteoderms/feature scales.
A lot of the design connects back to some design choices made in Jurassic Park and somewhat of The Isle. The Isle has great examples of stylization while remaining true to the animal, which I have applied to this design. Although The Isle gets a bad reputation from it's history, it was one of the main inspirations for designing this.
Very likely, I will continue this "characters" (OC?) design into the future by applying it into other forms of art, potentially changing design into a more accurate paleontological reconstruction of this "character", or keeping the design this has, depending on the mood I have for the future pieces.
Also, side note, I also aim to do more stylized and non-accurate pieces. As much I love designing paleontological reconstructions or accurate pieces, I want to do a few things, diversify my art to not be restricted to one form of paleontological art, and also aim to experiment with character design and design in general. Designing this was quite fun and simple. I find that these stylized designs allow for more flexibility in anatomical art in what you can include, allowing "cooler" (subjectively, at least) features to be prevalent in designs that weren't in the original animal. I will aim to do this more in the future.
OPINIONS AHEAD
And as a general comment and side note, somewhat of an opinion, to the above, things don't have to be restricted to just accuracy every time a dinosaur is made, and every design a prehistoric animal's design is made shouldn't be judged strictly on the accuracy of something, where accuracy is put onto a pedastal and glorified to be the indication that a design is "yay or nay". Great example with say, Jurassic Park/World or The Isle, where instead they should be judged on their design itself rather than anatomical accuracy of something. Though this generally varies throughout contexts of something. Jurassic World, Primeval, The isle, etc has their excuses to get away without needing to adhere to the rules of reality, while something such as Prehistoric Kingdom, Saurian, etc, because of their focus on accuracy, has to focus on it. It really depends on context. Now you are free to judge a design on the accuracy, but this is just my opinion and recommendation generally. Random rant over.
Hope you all enjoyed this piece and somewhat of a blogpost!
